We were thrilled to shoot a destination wedding for Emily and David in the picturesque Charlotte, North Carolina area. Beautiful weather, warm people and delicious restaurants. It was hard to leave this town!
Both ceremony and reception took place at the Firethorne Country Club. Although the days leading up to the wedding were sunny we were hit with rain the day of the wedding. But with beautiful stone and woodwork inside the club and spectacular balconies it was a gorgeous wedding day. Besides, the tradition is – it’s good luck to get married on a rainy day!
Emily looked beautiful in her wedding gown. Her bridesmaids wore satin dresses a stunning shade of blue that matched the blue hydrangea flowers in Emily’s bouquet ,which also had white roses and Calla Lilies. Each one of her lovely bridesmaids held a grouping of classic Calla Lilies wrapped in white satin.
One of the many great moments of the day was right after Emily and David were pronounced husband and wife. As they walked down the aisle and out onto the balcony I followed them and Emily happened to glance my way, I quickly took the shoot and it’s one of my favorite moments. She just radiated joy.
We took a few outdoor shots of the newly married couple by beautiful stone archways that were just below the balcony. This was a perfect spot for photos, as well as the main balcony with wedding party and family. Everyone enjoyed cocktails and the great views of the golf course.
Dinner, drinks, toasts and dancing lasted all evening. What a wonderful wedding day it was and Jeff and I were honored to photograph this event for such a sweet couple and lovely family.
We hope to return to the beautiful state of North Carolina again and a huge Thank You to all the family and friends we saw and met along the way and especially our tour guide Jennifer who made the trip so memorable. We love traveling this wonderful country of ours photographing amazing weddings!
