Whenever Studio Chyree is asked to photograph a Hindu Wedding we can always count on great humor, a wonderful group of people and extraordinary color. Even though Shriti and Dhaval were located out of town, thanks to the excellent work of Lynn Henderson with Above and Beyond Weddings everything went perfectly. For the actual wedding day, both Shriti and Dhaval prepared themselves at the Sheraton in Overland Park. For a first reveal I always look for a location with a great environment and privacy. For these two, I chose the hallway running in front of the ballrooms. The lighting was perfect and for the early hour of the day, we were assured of a quiet and intimate setting.
We then moved outside to the back of the hotel for the groom’s procession. Dhaval proudly rode his horse down the walkway with the crowd chanting and dancing. I consider the Bharaat one of the most exciting events in a Hindu wedding.
The ceremony was held upstairs in one of the ballrooms. The room was gorgeous and the entrance of Shriti and her bridesmaids was absolutely breathtaking. Following the ceremony there is often a ritual where the Groom and Bride depart and the bride says farewell to her family. In one of the most original exits we’ve witnessed, the couple departed in a pedal powered rickshaw.
In the afternoon, the bride and groom took a short break before changing into new outfits and arriving for the reception. A fantastic and colorful wedding day.
